John Broughton, presented three different rifles to the U.S. Army breech-loading rifle trials of 1872.

.50 caliber musket with radial breechblock which relied on a underlever to disengage a "locking brace" pivoting in the front of the schoulder in the radial block before the breech could open. Based on his 1868 patent.
